Mom’s Day Out- Exploring Driftwood Wineries

After watching the fun that many of our farmhouse guests enjoy on wine tours in the area, I had an epiphany. Why not pull some of my girlfriends together and pretend that we are Texas Hill Country tourists for a day? After all, we are hard working moms and this could be a Mother's Day treat to ourselves. So one Sunday afternoon we gathered at the farmhouse to await our chariot--the Texas Tipsy Tours Mercedes Sprinter.

The van was absolutely perfect! Clean, cool, roomy... and it came with a pretty cute driver who waited on us hand and foot. (Sorry ladies, he's taken...)

We proved that middle aged moms can take a wine tour selfie too!

Our first stop was Fall Creek Vineyards right in the heart of Driftwood, TX, just minutes from the farmhouse. We entered the property through a beautiful vine covered archway to the tasting areas which are in the different rooms of what was the former residence of a physician.

The tastings at Fall Creek were already lined up for us with a nice descriptive menu, along with pricing for full bottle options.

The next stop was Driftwood Estate Winery of which my husband and I are wine club members. It is a personal favorite of mine because of its fabulous hill country views.

Driftwood Estate Winery allows each guest to choose their own tasting lineup which we all appreciated because of our different personal preferences and favorites--reds, whites, dry, and sweeter wines for me!

We were having such a great time visiting and enjoying our wine and snacks that our time ran short and sadly we had to forgo our third stop. We were grateful for Eric's flexibility and patience with us.

We were escorted back to the farmhouse just as the sun was on its way down.

We finished the day on the back deck with more stories and laughter, ending the evening with dinner in the farmhouse kitchen followed by some competitive card games.

We couldn't have asked for a better precursor to Mother's Day. The wine tour and overnight at the farmhouse was just what the doctor ordered for us busy mommas.
