Farmhouse Christmas Home Tour

Without further ado...

Welcome to my home!! This is the first thing you see when you enter our home. I love that this is the original staircase and it is quite a beauty. Although we have whitewashed many of the original cedar planked walls we deliberately kept this staircase exactly how we found it when we purchased this 44 year old farmhouse in the summer of 2015.

This is also the area I use to showcase some of my favorite vintage collectibles and heirlooms. I picked up this vintage chair and footstool at Wimberley Market Days (just 15 minutes from our house). The old milk can was decoupaged by my mom back in the 70's. I love the color! Atop the table sit our advent candles and a crystal nativity scene we were given as a wedding gift almost twenty years ago.

The next stop on our home tour is my kitchen. This area was quite a gift to my family. We were blessed to be a part of HGTV's House Hunters Renovation. They provided us with an amazing designer, Heather Harkovich of Heather Scott Home and Design, Austin, TX. She did such a great job of combining both of our styles, needs and wants.

I have incorporated my Rae Dunn Christmas mug collection as well as this darling ceramic Santa who was crafted by my husband's grandmother years ago.

I also love having these open shelves and being able to change them out for the seasons. The hope, love, and peace dishes and copper mugs are both from Walmart. The sweet sign is from my Instagram friend @houseofboysand beauty.

Moving on from the kitchen is our dining area. This year I went with reds and plaids. Aren't these dishes from Pottery Barn so festive?!

I love how this mini wreath from My Hydrangea Home looks atop the plaid plate. And because it is made of natural dried florals it smells amazing too!

As you see can see on our fireplace, I used a more neutral color to balance out all the bright shiny reds and plaids. I made these off-white stockings from vintage pillowcases (see previous blog post).

And now for our tree!!

Charlie, our barn cat who thinks he's a house cat, has been enjoying cozy afternoons by the tree lately. Maybe he loves it because the tree is bird themed. He is quite the bird watcher. His favorite chair is from The Driftwood Haus which is also a favorite online shop of mine whose owner just happens to live across the street.

A few years ago, my daughters and I painted these birdhouses. Since then I have collected bird ornaments and nests to add to our collection. My mom gave me the cardinal nest which graced our tree when I was a child and is supposed to bring you good luck.

As you head out there is the most charming nook by our front door. I was told by the original owners that an organ sat there for many years. We have lots of grand plans for this area but for now it is a perfect space for this vintage mahogany dresser that my sister painted. I also love the vintage scale also from The Driftwood Haus. The sweet natural wreath and greenery in the champagne flute are from my friend Dawn at My Hydrangea Home.

We are so blessed with this farmhouse but even more so by the time spent in its walls together as a family and with friends.
